The New Syllabus promotes both AT1 learning about a religion (i.e. the facts) and AT2 learning from a religion ( i.e. relating what the children are learning about to their own life experiences).

The teaching and learning at Danson also aims to make children more culturally aware of others’ ways of life and beliefs, which may be different from their own, and in turn will prepare our children for living in the culturally diverse society that exists now in Britain and enable them to be both curious as well as tolerant.

The teaching of RE at Danson aims to give children first hand and sensory experiences and will use: actual religious artefacts whenever possible, incorporate visits to places of worship and involve visitors to the school from a variety of faiths.

The following skills will be promoted and developed through our teaching and learning in RE:

                                                                              Investigation

                                                            Questioning

                                              Empathy
