Danson Primary School Crowned Best Team in Kent
Congratulations to the Boy’s football team on being crowned the best Primary School football team in Kent on Saturday 18th November. After winning the Bexley tournament the team now faced the best schools from all across Kent. After winning the group playing some fantastic, entertaining football the group’s winners proceeded to a 3 way final. Danson won both of these games to be crowned champions, we will now represent Kent in the County finals in spring.
A wonderful achievement after finishing 2nd last year the players showed great character in reaching the finals again this is down to the players hard work and determination we managed to go one step further and win the competition.
This is the first time Danson will take part in both London and County Finals.
On Friday 3rd March, the Danson boys’ team competed in a 5-a-side tournament with the hope that they could win to be the first ever school to complete the treble (winning the league, cup and 5-a-side). Danson won both of their group games against Our Lady Of the Rosary and Bishop Ridley with some great goals from the boys. This put us through to the semi-finals where we played Hillsgrove in a tight match with us eventually coming out on top and winning 5-2. Going through to the final we played a very passionate game against St Thomas More, the boys held strong and performed brilliantly and went on to win 3-1. A very massive congratulations to the team.

Danson Do the Double 09/02/17
Danson boy’s football team won the League title in a close match against Holy Trinity. After securing the central title last week against St Stephens winning 8-2, the team went into the final match with confidence. With Holy Trinity scoring first goal the team showed great character in making a comeback with goals from Mason Hunter and Mikey Moore to win 2-1. A fantastic achievement from the team a first in the history of the school to complete the Cup and League double well done to everyone the school is very proud.

Girls Football Match Report 09/01/17
On Monday 9th January the Danson Girls’ Football team continued to play exceptionally well in their league games. The girls that represent Danson were; Olivia Edwards, Freya Bibby, Gurjot Deep, Fafa Wormenor, Maddison Randall, Caitlin Randall and Kiana Hirani. While the first game didn’t go as planned, with Danson losing 4-2 to St Michaels, the girls really showed their skill in the next game when they won 8-0 against St Stephens. The final match of the evening was a very close game against Brampton, Danson came out on top with the final score being 1-0. Well done girls for another excellent performance!
Football Newsletter 14/12/16
Danson Primary School boy’s football team competed in the Kent School’s tournament after winning the Bexley tournament. The team played some great football in the groups stages winning the group whilst remaining unbeaten. In the final match the boy’s lost 2-1 to a last minute penalty, after dominating the game by hitting the post and crossbar. This team should be so proud of this achievement, runners up in a tournament that over 1000 schools could of entered is amazing. Well done everyone.

Christmas Cup 14/12/16
The Christmas cup competition is a fantastic tournament involving the players yet to play in other cup competitions making sure as many players as possible can have a chance of representing the school team. The team played really well throughout the tournament remaining unbeaten in the group stages unfortunately Danson did not get through to the knockout round on goal difference. Everyone should be very proud of representing the school. Playing some amazing football in some hard matches.

Football Match Report 08/11/16
Danson played Uplands in the latest cup match winning 8-3. With a great team performance, with some fantastic individual displays. Team was George Underwood, Stanley Paine, Ahmed Camara, Cameron Illing, Jack Callagher, Lewis Plummer, Mikey Moore, Dhilon Wilson, Miko Bielski and Mason Hunter.

Well done to the Danson’s, Athletics to team who finished 3rd out of 6 schools in the indoor athletics competition. Was very impressed with the boys and girls who represented the school from a mixture of year 5’s and 6’s. Everyone took part with a smile and great attitude well done to everyone.

Girls Football Result 07/11/16
On Monday 7th November, Danson Girls Football team took part in the first league games of the season. They all played excellently and performed well in all 3 games that they played. The team was comprised of; Gurjot Deep, Maddi Sullivan, Fafa Wormenor, Tahseen Hussein, Olivia Edwards, Freya Bibby, Megan Hawkes, Zaira Alam and Sree. The first game of the night unfortunately ended in a loss but it was a very close match, the next two games were played with great determination and we won 4-0 and 3-1. Well done to all the girls that took part!
Boys Football Result - 06/10/16
On Thursday 6th October, Danson Primary School took part in a 7-a-side football tournament at Days Lane School. The squad included; George Underwood, Dhilon Wilson, Mason Hunter, Miko Belski, Stanley Paine, Lewis Plummer, Mikey Moore, Cameron Illing and Ahmed Camara. The team played very well together and showed a great deal of sportsmanship and teamwork, which eventually led to Danson reaching the semi-final by being unbeaten through the group stages and then facing Barnehurst in a tight game with Danson scoring a late winner and proceeding through to the final. We then played Lessness Heath primary school and in a dominating performance the boys won 2-0, this means that Danson are through to the Kent finals on 26th November.
This is the first time Danson has won this trophy in the 10 years that Mr Corley has been at this school, a big congratulations to all players.

Tennis Match Report
Danson took part in a Tennis competition on Wednesday 11th May, putting forward some of our most talented students from years 3 and 4. The children who went to Beth’s Grammar School to participate were; Lincoln Hunter, Isabelle Bourdet, Bailey Berry and Alex Hodkin. Due to the bad weather, the competition was held in the school’s sports hall and was changed so that instead of mini matches being played, the children took part in 8 different stations to showcase their tennis skills. Danson came 1st in one station, 2nd in four stations and did very well in the remaining stations. Overall Danson did exceptionally well and came 3rd out of 9 primary schools. We are all very proud of the children’s effort and enthusiasm.
Football Match Report
Danson’s year 4 & 5 boys took place in a Football tournament on the 7/5/16. They came up against some very good sides such as Days Lane, Bursted Wood and Christchurch. Our boys did very well showing great determination and skill seeing them get to the Semi Finals. Well done to those who played; Cameron Illing, Ahmed Camara, Miko Bielski, Mason Hunter, Dhilon Wilson, George Underwood, Stanley Paine, Lewis Plummer and Jack Callagher. You represented the school fantastically in both talent and attitude.
Girls Cricket Competition
On Wednesday 26th May the year 5 and 6 girls from Danson took part in a cricket tournament that determined the best primary school team in the whole of Bexley. A massive well done to both Danson A and Danson B who came 1st and 4th respectively. The girls played brilliantly in the final, beating Barnehurst by 7 runs. Danson A are now through to the next stage of the competition, and will be participating in the London Games in July.
Mixed Cricket Match Report
On Wednesday 8th June, Danson Primary School was represented by Danson A and Danson B in a mixed kwik cricket competition that took place at Bexley Grammar School. Both of our teams were put into separate groups with three other schools taking part. Due to this competition being the qualifying round the top two teams of each group were to go through to the finals, which takes place on the following Wednesday. Both teams played excellently with Danson A coming top in their group and Danson B being placed second in theirs, therefore meaning both teams had made it through to the finals. A massive well done to everyone that took part.
Mixed Cricket Report
On Wednesday 15th June, the Kwik Cricket Finals took place at Sidcup Cricket club. Danson Primary School was represented with both an A and B team, the A team was made up of the following students; Teddy Warner, Khushi Kerai, Deshawn Afilaka, George Underwood, Delasi Wormenor, Oakley O’Carroll, Emmanuel Frempong and Joshua Schoeffer. The B team was compromised of; Kenzie Terry, Millie Mahon, Joe Laird, Janosan Janoson, Charlie Smith, Mason Hunter, Sonny Penney and Jay Smith. Both teams performed to an extremely high standard with Danson B finishing in 13th making this year the first time in Danson’s history that both teams have made it the finals of the competition and Danson A finishing the competition in 3rd place which is the highest finish ever in the duration of Mr Corley’s time at Danson Primary School . A big well done to everyone who took part.
Swimming Gala Report
On Thursday 16th June, Danson Primary School took part in a swimming gala at Crook Log Leisure Centre. The following students competed in the gala; Freya Bibby, Abigail Grady, Lincoln Hunter, Mason Hunter, Amelia Swain, Kieran Owusu-Bennoah, Charlie Smith, George Miao, Alex Miao, Ogosha Idumwonyi, Olivia Lawrence, Evie Powell, Josh Schoeffer, Joe Laird, Simrat Kalsi , Delasi Wormenor, Emmanuel Frempong, Oakley O’Carroll, Kenzie Terry, Clark Rennie, Zak Selfi, Madison Randall and Caitlin Randall. All of the children performed excellently, each taking part in one individual race and many of them competing in the relay races. Overall Danson finished in second place which is a fantastic achievement. Everyone at Danson is very proud of all the swimmers.
Girls Cricket Match Report
On Tuesday 5th July, our year 6 girls took part in the next stage of the Kwik Cricket competition. After finishing in first place in the Bexley competition, above over 50 local schools, the girls got through to the Kent County Finals in Canterbury. This is the second time in 3 years that Danson Primary School have made it to the Kent County Finals after winning the Bexley Competitions. At this stage in the competition the girls played against the 11 best girls cricket teams in the county. The Danson team, comprised of; Delasi Wormenor, Kenzie Terry, Amelia Swain, Millie Mahon, Khushi Kerai, Evie Powell, Aimee Cooke and Oghosa Idumwonyi, won their first 5 games with some brilliant cricket from all players. These early wins led us to top our group table with 15 points and no losses. We then went on to play Pickhurst, a school from Bromley, in the final to determine 1st and 2nd place. The girls tried their best but unfortunately lost the game to Pickhurst, meaning Danson came 2nd place which is an amazing achievement. All the girls played excellently and have made everyone at Danson proud of their fantastic result, well done to everyone who took part.
Mixed Cricket Report
On Wednesday 15th June, Danson took both an A and a B team to the Bexley finals at Sidcup Cricket Club which is a first for Mr Corley, this is an amazing achievement in itself as over 50 schools tried to get a place in the final. It was a fantastic day for all and the students enjoyed themselves immensely, with the B team coming 13th and the A team finishing 3rd. A massive well done and congratulations to everyone who took part.
