About Danson

Welcome to Danson Primary School

A little bit about our history……

Danson Primary originally started life as Little Danson, comprising a few wooden buildings, in the early 1930s. Our school name originates from the famous Danson House, dating from the late 18th century as the school stands on land which once formed part of its estate.  Our current school opened in 1933 and became a two-form entry school in 1952.  We were delighted to expand in 2018 to become a three-form entry school to continue to serve our local community.

Danson today…………

We are a popular three form entry school with a breakfast and after school club provision.  We are nestled beside Danson Park, where our children regularly frequent as part their local visits throughout the year.  We are incredibly lucky to have extensive grounds for our children that are used throughout the course of the day.  Our grounds have continued to be enhanced with the addition of a new MuGA (Multi-use Games Area), Adventure Activity Area, seating areas and playground markings.

We have an enthusiastic, experienced and committed staff, who strive to support our pupils ‘to be the very best that they can be’.  We are fortunate to have a specialist music teacher, sports coaches and art tuition for our children.

We are proud of our academic successes.  The number of pupils achieving a Good Level of Development (GLD) and the expected standard at the end of Key Stage 1 and 2 has been consistently higher than the national average since 2013.

The teaching staff team deliver exciting approaches to learning and teaching ensuring our pupils have a broad and balanced range of opportunities by which to foster the development of positive, responsible attitudes towards learning alongside the development of personal and social skills.  At Danson there is an expectation of high academic achievement, we encourage creativity and cater to a personalised approach to learning.

At Danson we work together with our staff, parents and carers, young learners, governors and community members to create a happy school environment which aims to cater to the needs of our pupils.  We do this by providing a safe, caring and friendly atmosphere where quality and excellence in all things is encouraged and acknowledged.

We strongly believe that education is a partnership between home and school.  Our parents are supportive to the School’s ethos and aims, alongside valuing the aspirations we have for our children.  Each year we continue to reflect on how we can provide more opportunities for parents to become involved in supporting their children as learners or to become learners themselves.

Our Governors also play an active role in supporting and challenging the school to ensure it is the best it can be.

We hope our website will give you some insight into our School, the joy and enthusiasm of our children as well as our commitment to the belief that our children can be ‘nurtured, believed in, inspired and achieve’.

Thank you for your interest in our exciting Primary School.
