Modern Languages - French

At Danson Primary School we believe that learning a foreign language provides a valuable educational, social and cultural experience for our children. It helps to foster good communication skills including key skills for speaking and listening and knowledge of how language works. The language that is taught at Danson Primary School is French, which is taught in all classes in KS2.

The Rising Stars scheme of work is used as a vehicle when teaching the National Curriculum objectives for French at Danson Primary School. Lessons are taught weekly, building on the previous learning that the children have acquired. The children use and apply a growing bank of vocabulary, language skills and grammatical knowledge organised around age-appropriate topics. Through the teaching of French, children consolidate previously learnt language whilst building on the following: Listening, Speaking, Reading, Writing and Grammar.
